The Best Diamond Level in Minecraft

The best level to find diamonds in Minecraft is Y-level 8. This is because it is the most likely level for diamonds to appear at and is close enough to the surface that your mining efforts won't be hindered by lava pools. 

On average, you can expect a diamond ore vein of between 2-8 blocks with each individual ore block having a 0.08% chance of containing a diamond. You should also note that the chances of finding rarer diamond variants, such as the chiseled variant, increases the deeper you mine. That being said, it's important to not dig too deep as you may encounter lava pockets which can quickly end your mining efforts before you even begin!

To maximize your diamond yields, make sure your pickaxe is enchanted with fortune or silk touch. Fortune will increase the number of diamonds dropped from each ore block while silk touch will ensure that all ore blocks are collected instead of turning into their respective drops (e.g., cobblestone). With these two enchantments in tow, Y-level 8 can become an incredibly profitable resource for any aspiring miner!
